Open Day

Step inside a 1737 framework knitters’ workshop, brought back to life. Adam and Samantha will show you round, share the story of the building and the people who worked here, and talk you through the restoration and what comes next.

On the tour you will:

• See our 18th century framework knitting machine on the top floor
• Hear how the workshop was restored using traditional methods, from the new slate roof to lime and hemp plaster, repaired windows and stonework
• Find out about our future plans, including history talks, school visits, heritage skills training and the guest space on the ground floor
• Get the chance to ask us anything

Sessions are free and kept small so everyone can see the machine and chat. If your plans change, please let us know so we can offer your place to someone else.

Visiting as a group? We can often accommodate group visits outside our normal opening times. Please get in touch to make arrangements.
