3D Immersive sound experience

We’re developing a unique online audio-visual experience in collaboration with the world-renowned Electro-Acoustic Research Lab (EARLab) at the University of Derby.

Staff and students are taking 3D measurements of the original acoustics of our framework knitters workshop, as well as making 3D recordings of historic framework knitting machines in action.

These recordings, alongside 3D visuals captured as part of the process, will be built into a novel online immersive experience. This will allow anyone in the world to explore what it would have sounded like to be working in our knitting shop hundreds of years ago.

Coming soon. The immersive experience will be available here from Spring 2026. Stay tuned!
